Leah Day’s Coming to Sew South!

I’m SO excited to announce today that the super nice and super talented, Free Motion Quilting Queen, LEAH DAY is coming to Sew South and will be our very special guest speaker at the retreat. WOO HOO!

I’m SO excited Leah’s joining us! Leah has a new Craftsy class where she teaches various free motion quilting designs using Amy Gibson’s BOM series. I just signed up and plan to make FMQ something to work on in 2013.

I’m so excited about hearing some tips and tricks from Leah at Sew South and can’t wait to see some of her beautiful work in person!

Here’s a little more about Leah!

I got started quilting in 2005 because I wanted a double wedding ring quilt to celebrate my wedding. Unfortunately I used all the wrong materials (satin and silk) and all the wrong tools (paper templates) and experienced total epic fail. Over the next several years, I learned how to piece and applique, then decided to tackle the hardest challenge: free motion quilting. Learning free motion quilting and creating so many designs was like an artistic study and I now enjoy experimenting daily with the textures and designs that can be stitched in thread over fabric.

Who’s excited for Sew South?!

I am taking Leah’s Craftsy class and have learned so much. Mostly, to not be so afraid and just go for it! My BOM quilt is about half quilted now, and I never thought I would use some of the lovely designs she teaches. I am jealous of all your Sew South attendees and I know they will all enjoy Leah’s inspiring instruction!

oh darn ~ I live over on the other side of the States ~ I’d love to be coming to Sew South and get ‘in person’ instructions from Leah.
I am enrolled in her class on Craftsy and I’ve made that quilt from Amy Gibson’s BOM ~ so that’s some sort of compensation.

Me, me, me! I am so excited. This is my biggest goal in quilting is to be able to quilt my own quilts well! I can do it terrible but to make it look like a plan…now that is a dream

I am so excited for Sew South. I followed along with Leah’s free motion quilt project a few years back and thought she was great. I can’t wait to meet her and hear her speak! Thanks Jennifer, it keeps getting better and better.
