Sew South is this week! I’m so excited and looking so forward to seeing everyone. There will be lots of friends, both old and new, and it’s always such an inspiring weekend.
This is a sponsored post but all opinions and views are my own. 🙂
Coats has been such a fabulous partner for Sew South for years, and I’m happy to share some of my favorite Coats products with you today.
They graciously sent us these super cute Emergency Thread Kits for everyone at the retreat.
Each one has a spool of Paper Piecing Thread, Bold Hand Quilting Thread and two spools of General Purpose Thread.
First up is my favorite Coats thread: Paper Piecing Thread!
Yes, there is indeed a thread just for paper piecing!
This little lavender spool is one of the keys to great paper piecing.
There are two reasons why it is so great.
It’s very fine.
It’s very strong.
It doesn’t take up space in your seam allowance, and it is superman strong because it’s a polyester thread. It won’t break on you, especially when you tear away the papers of your paper piecing pattern. I’m ready for Coats to come out with giant spools of this!

Now that you know all about this special thread, you’ll want to use it on some fun paper piecing projects. You could try the Honeycomb Tote Tutorial I did for Coats a while back or try your hand at my Summer Sampler series or Southern Star. I also used this special thread when I designed and stitched this paper pieced quilt Coats showcased in their booth at quilt market.
After you piece all those blocks and stitch together special projects and quilt tops, you might fancy a little hand quilting to add a special touch. Coats has you covered!
Their Bold Hand Quilting thread is perfect for adding dimension and interest to your projects. Look for the aqua spool. 🙂
You can also always rely on Coats’ General Purpose Dual Duty XP Thread. It comes in a zillion colors and works with fibers, knits and wovens.
I love reading the names of all those colors!
In short, Coats has the thread you need for all of your sewing projects and their products are sold in stores everywhere which makes it easy to stock up. Coats is a brand you can trust.
